ABOUT FAITH CONNECT
FAITH CONNECT FAMILY BELIEVES IN
A Spirit-filled generation in which every believer takes part in serving, evangelizing, and discipleship through their God-given gifts, wherever God has planted them.
Rooted in Faith, Guided by Purpose
Our Beginnings
Faith Connect began in 2015 when a group of college students from Malawi, who regularly gathered for Christian fellowship off-campus, decided to hold a farewell event. Originally intended as a single-day outdoor gathering, the event transformed into a three-day meeting.
Drawing inspiration from his experiences with Couples for Christ Youth for Family and Life (CFC-YFL), Gomez Varela introduced a structure that centered around Fun, the Word, Worship, and Fellowship. This inaugural camp provided a powerful experience of God’s presence, and the team decided to repeat the event the following year.
Mentorship and Leadership 2016
With the commitment to continue the gatherings, the group selected a leadership team and welcomed Tony Correira, a CFC (now Missionary Families of Christ) missionary, as their mentor. Tony, along with his wife Maria, played a pivotal role in guiding the team, standing as accountability figures, and providing essential resources. Tony led the team in a three-day program that clarified their vision, laid out leadership covenants, and established a leadership structure. Through this process, Gomez Varela was chosen as the Senior Leader, with Joseph Mdumuka as the Associate, setting a foundation for Faith Connect’s growth.
The Birth of Faith Connect 2017
During these formative stages, the name Faith Connect was suggested as an umbrella for the initiative, representing all future programs. By this time, gatherings such as Faith Camps, Faith Uplifts, and Faith Bible Study had already been established. Faith Connect signifies the aspiration to become not only a movement but also an enterprise and a divine force—connecting individuals from diverse denominations to come together with one purpose, believing in the much-needed change, growing together spiritually, and building up to become influential citizens who impact the Seven Mountains of societal influence: politics, entertainment, religion, education, family, media, and business..
Our Vision for Revival
Since its inception in 2015, Faith Connect has held three-day camps annually with a vision to become Africa’s most impactful Christian camps organization—not in terms of size alone, but through profound spiritual impact. Faith Connect is built on the belief in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging Jesus as the Head of the Church, and keeping revival at the heart of its mission. Looking to the future, Faith Connect envisions establishing a dedicated Christian campsite that will host diverse programs year-round. These programs will cater to various groups, including kids, youth, children, couples, singles, pastors, Christian companies, organizations, and individuals. The movement remains committed to inspiring believers, fostering spiritual growth, and expanding into new regions, aiming to make a lasting impact across the continent and abroad.
The Mission
The purpose of the Faith Connect is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both words and deeds by developing Young Christian Leaders, spiritually and socially under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, to have passion for lost souls and to fearlessly embrace the Great Commission.
